月の湯は文京区目白台にある東京最古級の木造銭湯です。早川氏のペンキ絵のほか、脱衣場にあるガラス製の広告看板など、工夫された造作が並ぶ空間が魅力的でした。近隣にある和敬塾という男子学生寮の寮生がよく通っていたことも特徴です。お客さんは脱衣カゴを使うスタイルで、廃業の最後までこのスタイルが続いていました。
Tsuki-no-yu was one of the oldest wooden public bathhouses in Tokyo, located in Mejirodai in Bunkyo Ward. Among its priceless features were a wall mural by the late Toshimitsu Hayakawa, dressing room advertisements painted onto glass, and design details that created an exceptionally appealing space. Students from the nearby Wakei Juku dormitory for male students were frequent bathers. Until its closure Tsuki-no-yu did not use lockers, and customers placed their clothes and belongings in changing baskets in sight of the proprietor instead, an old style that has completely disappeared from Tokyo.
