滝野川稲荷湯は東京都北区滝野川に位置する、戦前からの数少ない宮造り銭湯です。稲荷湯の始まりは、100年以上前にさかのぼり、初代の経営者がこの地で1913（大正2）年に始めたものと伝えられています。現在の建物は、1930（昭和5年）のもの。屋号は前年に隣地にできた小さな社に因んで「稲荷湯」と名付けられました。古くからの生活文化が根付いている滝野川の旧中山道の商店街とともに、人々の生活を今日も支え続けています。
Inari-yu is located in the Takinogawa neighborhood of Kita Ward, and is one of Tokyo’s few remaining prewar “miya-zukuri” style bathhouses. Founded in 1913, Inari-yu’s current structure dates to 1930. It is now one of three public baths in Tokyo that are registered as National Cultural Properties.

わたしたちの関わり方 | How we were involved
せんとうとまちは、2019年から滝野川稲荷湯を登録有形文化財にするための申請をお手伝いしたほか、同時にワールドモニュメント財団（WMF）の援助を受けるための申請を行いました。その結果、2020年よりWMFと共同で「稲荷湯修復再生プロジェクト」をスタート。銭湯では浴室の壁面の耐震化やペンキ絵の塗り替えを行なった他に、隣接する老朽化が著しい二軒長屋を再生し、2022年に湯上がり処「稲荷湯長屋」としてオープンすることになりました。「稲荷湯長屋」はせんとうとまちが現在もその運営を行っています（詳細について稲荷湯長屋のページをご確認ください）。
上記のプロジェクト実施に際して、滝野川稲荷湯および稲荷湯長屋に関するできる限りの記録活動（写真・全天球撮影・図面作成・店主への取材・近隣取材など）を継続して実施しています。

Sento & Neighborhood helped Takinogawa Inari-yu apply for registration as a tangible cultural property in 2019. At the same time, we applied to receive funding from World Monuments Foundation (WMF). As a result, the Inari-yu Restoration Project was launched in collaboration with WMF in 2020. In addition to improving the seismic resilience of the walls of the bathhouse and repainting the wall mural, an adjacent structure of a highly deteriorated two-unit row house was completely restored and opened in 2022 as Inari-yu Nagaya, a place for bathers and local residents to relax. Inari-yu Nagaya continues to be operated by Sento & Neighborhood (please see Inari-yu Nagaya page for details).
As part of the above project, we have continued to document as much as possible about Takinogawa Inari-yu and Inari-yu Nagaya (photography, 360-degree photography, drawings, interviews with the owner and neighborhood residents, etc.).
